The Consultative Council for Resilience to International Disinformation at Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a statement on supporting persons adversely affected by activities carried out through social platforms.
The Council raises concern about inadequate oversight of paid advertising on social media — in particular the fraudulent use of public figures’ images to defraud investors — and about how limited regulation of technology platforms under the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) minimises their liability for illegal activity, including fraud and disinformation. It proposes establishing a dedicated support mechanism for affected users and reiterates its call for Poland to adopt national regulations enabling full application of the DSA, stressing the importance of the notice-and-action mechanism in protecting users from scams.
